Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Scheduled for Pacemaker Implantation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 73, has announced on Twitter that he will undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at Tel Hashomer Hospital. The surgery comes just ahead of the Knesset’s vote on a controversial judicial reform bill. During the procedure, which will take place while he is sedated, the Minister of Justice and Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin will temporarily assume his responsibilities.

In a video message shared on social media, Netanyahu explained the situation, stating, “Last week, they provided me with a monitoring device. Upon reviewing the data, it indicated the need for a pacemaker, which I will have implanted tonight. Despite feeling great, I trust my doctors’ advice. They assure me that I will be released from the hospital tomorrow afternoon and ready to attend the Knesset for the vote.”

This development follows Netanyahu’s recent overnight hospitalization due to dehydration, which occurred during a heatwave in the country. While hospitalized, he received a heart monitor, which led to the detection of the need for a pacemaker.

We wish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a successful procedure and a speedy recovery.
